Chef CassDeColores Christmas

What better way to celebrate the season of our Saviors birth than to gather the Cursillo community together for some fellowship, singing, reflecting and, of course, eating. That was the scene on December 17th as the St Mel Men’s Group Reunion hosted a community celebration at the Parish Center in Fair Oaks.

mels food - CopyOver 110 fellow Cursillistas and their families joined together for a wonderful evening that featured a full turkey dinner with the fixins, a beautiful reflection by St Mel Deacon, Dave Lehman, the Friedrich Family Christmas Story and a visit by the man in the red suit. Of course there was plenty of music provided by the Cursillo Band and a great deal of joyous fellowship.

Many thanks to our special chef, Cass Castaneda and his friend, Chef John, the band leaders, Tom West and Ron Bauer, all the servers, B Gruenisen who hauled the smoker around, Emigh Hardware for loaning us the smoker, free of charge, and to the Schaeffer’s who provided the beautiful handmade centerpieces. There was also a lot of setting up and cleaning to do…Cass and Janet, thank you!

mels santaGuests brought a plenty of tasty food…thank you for helping us feed the masses. And to all who brought the canned goods…we fed a lot of needy people through the St Vincent DePaul Society.

Thanks also to our new parish priests, Pastor Aldrin Basarte, and Fr. Memo Ramirez who joined us in between their Saturday confessions…there was also a Fr Joshy sighting, all the way from Elk Grove!
Let’s pray for a rich and spiritual growth to our movement in 2014!
